Be Awesome Instead

I have a confession to make: I’m not a very confident person.  I try to be, really I do—the whole “fake it ‘til you make it” mentality, you know?  But sometimes, I have a hard time convincing myself that I should be happy with who I am.

Anytime I feel this way, I channel my inner Barney Stinson!

I am a HUGE How I Met Your Mother fan.  The humor is so smart, and I can really relate to the characters—all of whom are searching (and I mean really searching) for themselves as adults.  It’s funny and silly and relatable.  I adore it.

One of Barney’s sayings about awesomeness is a mantra I’ve adopted that I repeat to myself until I start feeling more confident.  Even if it’s just a smidge more . . .

When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead.

And you know something?  It actually works!  Because no matter what anyone else says (including myself!), I AM awesome!  I am smart and funny and caring and generous.  I am pretty and driven and strong and sexy.  I am independent and capable and creative and . . . awesome.

I have a lot to offer, and I should be proud of that!

And you know something else?  YOU are AWESOME, too!!!  All the wonderful attributes and skills and talents you have that make you uniquely you are just what someone is looking for!  Whether it’s in your job or your friendship or your relationship, you and I both are full of awesomeness!  And we should spread it around!

So, dear readers, on this Monday morning, I just wanted to tell you that I think you are 100% totally, completely amazing and AWESOME!

XOXO
