Cold Turkey

Today’s the day!

Well, sort of. 

Today is the first day that I am a Web Content Specialist in an official capacity (not sure what that means . . . )! 

I got up bright and early to get my workout in.  A 4 mile run + Jackie Warner’s Total Body Circuit—Upper Body and Abs portions only.  I know I need to do more with legs.  Baby steps. 

Then, I made whipped banana oats!

The poor banana that went into these oats was brown within an inch of its life and practically fell apart as I peeled it.  I just mashed it in instead of slicing; otherwise, I used the same method as I do to make my Peanut Butter Banana Oats.  Remember, the peanut butter tastes like frosting???  YUM!

That’s right, kids.  I’ve gone cold turkey.  I haven’t had any coffee since Saturday.  Sunday wasn’t too bad, but I definitely felt it yesterday.  The headache wasn’t too too terrible, but I just felt exhausted.  Why on Earth am I doing this to myself again?

Oh, that’s right.  Because the last 2 nights, I have fallen right to sleep.  No tossing.  No turning.  No counting sheep.  For the most part, I’ve slept through the night, too.  I’m not giving up coffee forever—I enjoy it waaay too much—but until I get my sleep under control, I think it’s more important to get rest than it is to indulge my coffee habit. 

How many coffee drinkers in the house?  Does caffeine keep you up at night?

I usually just have my morning cup and then I’m done for the day.  It amazes me when people can have coffee or a Coke right before bed and still sleep like a baby.  Jealous!

Back to work!  Gotta get crackin’ so I sound like I know what I’m talking about! Winking smile

  1. I’m a big coffee fan too! My rule: one cup of coffee in the morning and nothing else. On the weekends, I may run to starbucks early afternoon or something, but no caffeine after 3 pm. I’m usually fine. I’m not one of those people who can drink caffeine at 11 pm and then go right to sleep…

    • I usually follow that same rule–no caf after 3! I’m hoping after I get my sleep schedule back on track, I can start to have it again. Although starting a new job always makes me exhausted, so maybe it’ll be sooner than I think!

  2. I never drink coffee. Mainly because I think it tastes like dirt. And not even good tasting dirt, but the bad tasting kind. But I do love me some breakfast diet coke, I won’t lie.

  3. I could never, EVER give up coffee. I am a total addict.
    However, I have given up pop. I love it, but I too am having sleeping issues so I hope this helps. I only drink coffee in the early morning, so I am hoping it is out of my system by bed time. My late afternoon Dr. Pepper is the believed culprit behind my tossing and turning so I sadly had to say goodbye:-(

    • I don’t drink too much pop, but I do love it! Working this morning, I am definitely missing my trusty cup ‘o joe next to me! Hopefully I can have it again soon. As soon as I get some more good sleep–or as soon as I cave. 🙂

  5. I’m so excited for you! I hope you love the new job. I’ve tried to drink coffee but I hate the way it makes me feel. It makes me more anxious than I already am…not good!

  6. Coffee and caffeine in general are not my friends!!! I don’t really like the taste of coffee, honestly, but the caffeine in it would make my heart explode!! If I have a piece of chocolate at 3pm or later, I will not get a good night’s sleep. It’s crazy, but I sleep so much better, so I just keep my chocolate eating to a minimum.

    Good luck with the new job and with drinking less coffee! Both will be a challenge, but I’m sure you’ll do well!

    I love Coffee but only have one really nice cup a day with my breakfast in the morning. I can drink caffinated drinks later on and still fall asleep though!
