Puddle Jumper

Haaaaappy Monday!

A little too much enthusiasm for a Monday? Perhaps, but only because today is actually my Thursday!

Huh?

It’s a short week for me because I’m going to Florida on Wednesday! Mini vacation? Don’t mind if I do!

Soaking up some vitamin D is high on my list of priorities! Now, if I can only cram 5 days’ worth of work into 2. Ready? Go!

This weekend was spent doing a little more birthday celebrating–a family dinner on Saturday night, complete with copious amounts of birthday frosting, I mean cake.

I even saved some flowers for all my frosting lovers out there. πŸ™‚

No matter how much I’ve eaten, there’s always room for frosting!

Sunday, I had a leisurely brunch with some girlfriends.

Which eventually led to more mimosas in the bar . . .

Several hours later, we were still in the bar, drinking (water for me) and chatting. Love days like that!

This morning, I was up bright and early to squeeze in a run before work. It was drizzly, but not especially cold when I set out, but the storms we got overnight made things a bit dicey. I was either dodging (or basically splashing through) enormous puddles, or trying to avoid the slick patches of ice not melted by the rain.

Apparently, I need to work on my dodging skills a bit, because lo and behold, I found myself fallen down yet again.

The bad news: Yes, I fell down. Again.

The good news: I didn’t get hurt, AND t think I’m getting better at it.

When I started sliding, I kept my center of gravity low and put my arms out like I was surfing, then rolled into the fall. Perhaps I should offer some seminar on how to fall gracefully, because I think I’ve mastered it!

Wipeout show

I would be awesome on this show. Even though I find it highly annoying.

So that happened just over a mile in, which made me a little hesitant for the rest of the run, especially since it was so dark that I could barely see! I wound up running a little slower than I’d hoped, but to stay upright, I think it was worth it! I will also blame my pace on the 5 extra pounds of water I was carrying around in EACH shoe. Puddle, much? Yeah.

Fun stuff. But aside from the water-logged shoes and the semi-face plant, it was a decent run.

Then I came into the office and walked right into an opened door on my desk and almost bit it again. My shin has a pretty purple dent in it. Should be lovely this week in Florida when I’m showing off my legs.

Now do you see why I love her so much? More grace in her pinky than I have in my whole body.

Are you clumsy? I am a bull in a china shop pretty much all the time.

  1. oh man, that run sounds rough! I finally got outside after 2 weeks on the treadmill. All the snow had melted, but there was a wind advisory out and my eyes watered the entire run. Where in FL are you off to?

  2. You are having a case of the Mondays! Don’t worry, I am too. I spilled my overnight oats in my BRAND NEW PURSE! Whoopsie-daisy.
I feel ya girl….it has been raining her in K-Zoo ALL day. I am dreading my run tonight…my shoes are finally dried out from my last rainy run!

Glad that you had a good wk.end. You can’t get much better than frosting and mimosas!

  3. Well, I guess the good news is that you’ve developed a way to keep yourself safe while falling:) I’m a bit clumsy, and often end up with a few random bruises on my arms or legs at any given time. It sounds like your birthday celebrations were fun, and the cake looks AMAZING!

  4. Well..glad you didn’t hurt yourself….excelt for the bruise – I’m SUPER duper clumsy…
Glad you get to jet to Florida…enjoy your time there and I hope it’s sunny and warm. Funny…Im in Canada and you are headed to sunny florida… πŸ™‚

  5. I am so jealous of your Florida trip!! I desperately need some sun to give this pale body of mine some color haha. And yes, I’m clumsy. I always find these random bruises on my legs and I’m pretty sure they come from me hitting things or running into things at the gym haha.

  6. I slipped WALKING in the rain the other day, so at least you were running and there was ice! Maybe we should start wearing butt pads to catch the fall πŸ˜‰

  7. Hilarious! I was right there with you through the fall, but at least you fell in the wee hours of the morning. I typically fall at say, oh, 5pmish in the middle of a major intersection or in front of a group of guys tailgating in their driveway.. Yep, those happened.
New to your blog – love it!

    • Oh my gosh–well, I have my fair share of embarrassing falls, too. I face planted in front of a group of tailgaters this fall–HAWT. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for commenting! Nice to “meet” you!
