When All Else Fails

Last night, I made a last ditch attempt to cheer myself up.

When all else fails, Dairy Queen is always a good idea, right? Winking smile

I also caught the last little bit of the movie Waitress on Lifetime.  Love that movie!

Damn baby.  Damn crib. Rolling on the floor laughing

Truly, I love Keri Russell in general.  Ever since the Felicity days, I’ve had a girl crush on her!  Such a cutie!

Bad day behind me, I’ve got supplements on the brain this morning.  I prefer to get my nutrients from food whenever possible, but I take a little extra help from vitamins, too!**

My daily picks:

Kale Chips & Coconut Blondies 009

I go for the Target brand of both a multivitamin and a calcium supplement—gummies, of course! Winking smile  I hate swallowing giant vitamins and experience has taught me that a jar of horsepill-sized vitamins will sit on my counter, untouched.  Since I’ve found these gummies, I actually look forward to taking my vitamins!   You can’t exactly call these gummies “good” for you, as they do have sugar that you wouldn’t get from a pill, but a pill’s not going to do me any good if I don’t take it, right?  It’s a tradeoff I’m willing to make!

Multivitamins

A multivitamin gives you the most bang for your buck in terms of supplements.  Getting the right balance of nutrients keeps your body functioning properly so you’re less susceptible to illness.

Healthy-Heart

If you eat a healthy, balanced diet, you probably get the right nutrients your body needs already, but a multivitamin gives you an extra boost in terms of the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your body needs to keep it performing at top speed.  Nothing wrong with that!

Calcium

Most people know that calcium keeps your bones strong to reduce your risk for osteoporosis, but did you know it can also help prevent breast cancer?  Basically, it improves your DNA’s capacity to repair itself.  Scientists think that a disruption in this process might lead to cancer, and the calcium can prevent that from happening.  Cool, right? {Source}

Taking a calcium supplement is important if you don’t get a lot of calcium from your diet.  Most people know that calcium is found in dairy products, but did you know there’s also lots of it in tofu and leafy greens?  YUM!

Breakfast Calzone 004Trader Joes 005

As I mentioned last week, I also take probiotics and flaxseed for my tummy troubles.

**I’m no expert!  This is just what works for me!  If you are looking for legit medical advice, consult someone with letters after their name.  Those people know what they’re talking about!

Do you take any vitamins or supplements?  Which ones and why?

  1. I gave up on horse pill Calcium supplements when my husband literally choked on one and my grandson had to do the heimlich maneuver to get it out LOL

So we didn’t take our Calcium for awhile

Then we stumbled on a product that a friend was selling that was a citrus drink. He was giving away samples so we both tried it and fell in love. We start every morning with it because it’s like our orange juice basically.

Needless to say we’re back on the calcium train and are doing great at 68 and 74 respectively!

Our friend asked me to share this testimonial with some of our favorite blogs because he’s running a promotion this weekend where you buy 1 get 1 half off. You have to use coupon code FB011312 to redeem @ his web site http://chrisbyrnes.com/calciaim thru Monday, 1/16/12 because of the holiday.

Hope you enjoy the long weekend!
